From Peer Leader to Professional: Cover Letters, Resumes and LinkedIn Profiles

Overview

During this three hour workshop, you will learn how to build your personal brand. The expert facilitator will focus on tips and tricks to help your materials stand out to hiring managers so you get your foot in the door.  

You will begin by reflecting on your peer leadership experiences and identify your strengths, accomplishments and transferable skills. This step helps you build your confidence, understand the problems you solve and the value you bring to a potential employer. Then you will look at models and best practices for sharing your experience and skills on cover letters, resumes and your LinkedIn profile. Learn how to get your application materials read. Finally, you will put your knowledge to practice by participating in a resume and LinkedIn profile writing workshop. You will learn best practices of writing a cover letter and resume that a hiring manager will read. The workshop is ideal for students who want to:

·        Identify your strengths, accomplishments and transferable skills

·        Learn techniques to optimize resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles and make them stand out.

·        Participate in a hands-on workshop to build a stellar resume and LinkedIn profile

Please bring your computer, an electronic copy of your current resume and be prepared to edit your LinkedIn profile.

Danielle Menditch, LSW, GCDFI, Career Coach

Danielle is a certified career consultant who specializes in helping Millennials (ages 16-35) find their career calling and obtain meaningful work. This includes ascertaining strengths and skills, identifying values and discovering passions and life purpose. She provides individual career coaching and workshops both in-person and online to help clients plan and achieve their career goals. Danielle also works with businesses, nonprofits and foundations by teaching career development workshops and training employees to become Career Development Facilitator (CDF) Certified. Previously she supported small businesses in branding, community outreach, website development, event and marketing campaigns.  Danielle is passionate about helping clients to find meaningful and rewarding careers that allow them to make a difference in the world.
