The Peer Mentor Certificate
Why get certified?
The Peer Mentor Certificate indicates that students have the basic skills needed to excel as peer mentors - the first step of excellent peer leadership, and the requirements align with the recommendations laid out by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Upon completing the 8-hour online Peer Mentor Certification Course through Eduology’s Peer Leader Center, students will have met the first part of the Level 1 mentor training requirements put forth by the CRLA. Students can apply for their national college peer mentor certification after completing the course and 25 hours of peer mentoring. Having a certificate means that a student has training and experience to work in peer mentor roles on a college campus, even if they transfer between schools.
How does certification work?
Students can apply for their peer mentoring certificate after completing an online course through Eduology, short application and 25 hours of peer mentoring verified by a supervisor. The 8-hour online course teaches students about the role, ethics, and skills involved in peer mentoring and provides practical assignments to help students apply learning to their peer mentoring work. Next, students submit their short application that verifies they have completed 25 hours of peer mentoring. Upon receiving the Peer Mentor Certificate, students will have met the first part of the Level 1 mentor training requirements put forth by the College Reading and Learning Association.
What is the cost?
Course registration is $99/student (discount for groups of 10 or more). Includes an 8-hour, online, on-demand course with 14 short units. The units include readings and activities plus access to videos and recorded webinars.
