Learning Objective

Students will be able to use cool downs, practice stop, think, choose, and problem solve using six steps of negotiation.


You will learn about and brainstorm effective cool down techniques that allow you to approach conflict with a clear mind. You will also utilize six steps of negotiations to find win-win solutions to problems. Finally you will have 30 minutes to create and share your own personal plan for future conflicts. You will gain the skills to:

This interactive webinar provides opportunities to engage in reflection, discussion, and role-playing. Pearl W.  Bell, MA

Pearl has taught at The Conflict Center for over 9 years and is adjunct faculty at University College at the University of Denver. An experienced speaker and trainer in the areas of Conflict, Anger, Communication, Relationships and Violence Prevention, she has spoken on topics such as Transformative Mediation, Social Norming, Bullying Prevention, Dating Violence, Karpman’s Triangle and Power, Privilege and Oppression.    She received her dual Master’s Degrees from the University of Denver in International Studies and in Conflict Resolution, she has a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation.  

Jill Schmidt, MSW

Jill  is an Instructor and Program Assistant at The Conflict Center where she has been teaching classes in the area of conflict and anger management to youth and adults since September 2013 as well as working with community partners and instructors to schedule classes and workshops. Jill received her Bachelors in Social Work from Bethel College, Kansas in 2005 and Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2014. She has spent the past ten years working with youth and young adult volunteers excited about making a difference in the world. Through her work and personal experiences, Jill has seen the ways that effective communication and conflict skills transform community and interpersonal relationships. She is excited to share these skills with others.
