Questioning and Listening is the third training in The Peer Mentoring Fundamentals Series and offers a practical video and guide on providing academic support to students. Designed for college students in peer leadership positions, including mentors, tutors, counselors, advisors and student leaders, this training focuses on how peer leaders can learn about students' needs and help them achieve their academic goals through active listening methods and good questioning techniques. Every peer leader must step into the peer mentor role at some point, and this video will help all peer leaders successfully use effective listening and questioning strategies to guide students to academic success.

Bryce Bunting, Assistant Clinical Professor, Counseling and Career Center

Bryce is responsible for a peer coaching program along with other primary duties of advising, teaching, assessing and researching academic success. A member of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) Directorate Board, he provides leadership and knowledge generation in all issues related to student intake and first-year experience. Previously, he served as Associate Director of the First-Mentoring program for the College of Undergraduate Education where he oversaw peer mentor and faculty development and conducted research and program assessment on best practices for first-year programming.. His research on peer mentor learning was published in The Journal of the First-Year Experience & Students in Transition. He has presented nationally and internationally with the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, the International Society for Exploring Teaching and Learning (ISETL), the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the International Consortium for Educational Development, and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and is a faculty member for NASPA's Institute on Peer Educators. Bryce holds a PhD in Instructional Psychology, an MA in instructional design, and his research interests include the application of instructional design principles to peer mentor development, learning and identity development among peer mentors, and professional identity formation among higher education professionals.
