This online student leadership course gives college students a variety of tools and strategies to succeed in their new roles as student leaders.
8-hour online, asynchronous course - students have 6 months to complete the course
6 additional hours of video recording training for a more in-depth look at topics or on-going training

About the Course
Eduology’s Peer Leader Center now offers the College Student Leadership Certificate Course 8-hour course (plus 3 additional hours of video recordings for more in-depth knowledge on course topics), ideal for introducing critical leadership skills to new student leaders or reviewing these skills with returning students leaders or college professionals who oversee these leaders.
Undergraduate college student leaders who are new to leadership roles in such programs as Student Senate, Greek life, student organizations, peer leadership, resident advising, peer education, supplementary instruction, cultural ambassador, diversity, peer counseling/advising, career services
Professionals who coordinate undergraduate student leadership programs and are looking to expand their training skills or want to attend alongside their students
Overview
This 8-hour course is offered in an online, asynchronous format throughout the year. The topics are aligned with the College Reading and Language Association’s recommendations under their Level 1 mentor training certification. After completing this course, students will be able to articulate and perform the basic skills of student leadership.
The first half of the course applies Kouzes’ and Posner’s model of leadership as a set of learnable traits to their application in a student leadership setting, including student and peer leader scenarios. Students receive a copy of the Student Leadership Challenge Workbook to augment their training. The second half of the course addresses specific skills that most student leaders will need in their positions.
Students complete 14 short learning modules. Modules include readings, activities and practice scenarios. Also included in the course are quizzes and videos. The units introduce knowledge and skills in each of the following competency areas:

Course Design
Each of the 14 sessions applies best practices in instructional design in which students engage in short readings and applied learning activities such as problem solving case studies and scenarios. The instruction is cyclical so that students review competency areas again and again throughout the course improving student comprehension and retention of content material. Quizzes, pre-assessment and post-assessment assures students have learned the material and measures growth.
