The Peer Mentor & Student LEadership Certificates

Students complete the Peer Mentor Certificate Course plus 25 hours of verifiable experience mentoring or leading to receive Eduology’s National Certificate in Peer Mentoring.

We also offer a Student Leadership Certificate Course that trains students who move into peer leadership roles, student organization leadership or other campus leadership roles.

4 Key Reasons for Students to Take the Certificate Courses

Image 1 Students.jpg
  1. Prepared Mentors: The training required to earn the Peer Mentor Certificate gives students the basic skills needed to succeed and excel in their roles.

  2. More Effective Program: Providing quality training to mentors is the first step of excellent peer leadership programs.

  3. Certificate of Preparation: Having a certificate means that a student has training and experience to work in a peer mentor role on a college campus, even if they transfer between schools.

  4. Career Readiness: Students who receive training gain career readiness skills, and the certificate serves as a talking point to discuss how their campus experiences have prepared them for the workforce when interviewing for internships and jobs post-graduation.

How does certification work? Course + 25 Verified Hours

To certify, students take a certificate course in Peer Mentoring. Students then complete a short application for their national college peer mentor certification after completing the course and 25 hours of peer mentoring (verified by a supervisor). They can also take a course in student leadership for more knowledge and skills.

What is the difference between CRLA certification and Eduology certification?

Eduology certifies the students who are in mentoring roles on college campuses. Even if a student does not mentor or lead within a CRLA-certified program, they will receive the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles. They will also have the certification to refer to in applying to internships and jobs post-graduation.

CRLA certifies college mentoring programs. Eduology and CRLA are not associated with each other, but Eduology highly recommends checking out CRLA’s website and mentoring program certification. It’s top notch and provides the national standard for college mentoring programs, including the training components.

The connection between the two certifications is that the topics of the Eduology certificate courses (peer leader and student leader) align with the recommended topics laid out by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) for Level 1 and Level 2 certification*.

What is the cost?

The course registration is $99/student (10% discount for groups of 10 or more). Each course includes an 8-hour, online, on-demand course with 14 short units plus 4-6 hours of additional video training for a more in-depth look at topics of interest. The courses include readings, activities, videos and mentoring/leadership resources.
