Key Steps to Implementing A Career Development Course At Your Institution

***

June 21st, 2022| 2:00 p.m. EST - 3:15 p.m. EST | $395

Learn from experts at 2 institutions how to build an evidence-based career development course for students on your campus.

Why This Topic Matters

As of this year, universities in Florida must ensure that each student has access to career planning resources (SB 86). Why?

According to the Institute of Education Sciences (2017), approximately 33% of bachelor degree students change majors at least once before graduation. And, upwards of 50% of students are exploratory majors (Nelson, Martin, and Cunningham, 2012).These statistics help explain why career advising and career development are increasingly prevalent topics in policy and student success conversations.

Yet, too often, we don’t see evidence-based career development integrated into the student academic experience on campuses--as a required or optional course, as part of the advising curriculum or within academic courses. As key stakeholders in preparing students for their futures, academic leaders need to understand how to build a career exploration curriculum for college students.
