Overview

Do you help students decide on a major, pick a minor, or explore career options? Do students ask you for advice on finding an internship or job searching? It can be daunting to provide students with individualized career guidance.

Explore how to use Artificial Intelligence to better support career conversations with students who are exploring their options and seeking direction. You will also consider the use of AI in helping students through other phases of the career development process from interview practice to developing resumes and cover letters.

This session will focus on using AI to support students in one-on-one meetings. The arts of "prompting" will be reviewed along with strategies for using AI during various phases of the career development cycle.

Agenda

  • Explain prompt engineering to get the most out of ChaptGPT searches.

  • Identify AI tools that can build capacity into the career coaching and advising process.

  • Demonstrate how AI can assist students at various stages of the career cycle, from career exploration to interviewing to proofreading and editing professional documents.

  • Consider ethical guidelines for students and practitioners using AI for career development.
