Academic advising, academic support and student-success professionals overseeing staff and/or student workers will gain critical skills in supervising teams and departments. Ideal for both current and aspiring leaders.
Why is This Topic Important?
To retain both student staff and professional staff, supervisors need concrete skills and strategies in overseeing and working with teams. Investing in supervision training isn’t just about efficiency—it directly impacts retention of staff which can, in turn, impact student success and retention.
According to the CUPA-HR 2023 Higher Education Employee Retention Survey, one-third (33%) of higher education employees reported they were likely or very likely to look for new job opportunities within the next year. The survey also found that employees who felt unsupported by their supervisors or lacked opportunities for career development and growth were significantly more likely to leave. Learn how to better support your staff through clear communication and effective supervisor skills.
