Meet Some of Our Consultants

Cynthia Smith Forrest, Ed. D, Higher Education Consultant

Specialties: Student Affairs Assessment; Collaboration between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs; Higher Education Management; Campus Change and Strategic Planning

Cynthia most recently served Boston-based Wheelock College as the Vice President for Student Life on the senior management team guiding the merger process with Boston University.  She has a distinguished record of professional achievement having served for 21 years at Framingham State University both as the Dean of Students and as the Senior Student Affairs Officer for Student Services. In addition, she served as the Vice President for Student Affairs for six years at the University of New England.  Cynthia earned her Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Administration, Management and Social Policy from Harvard University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Counselor Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina. 

Cynthia served for 10 years on the American Council on Education Office Inclusive Excellence National Network Board as well as in a number of other regional and national positions throughout her career, including ten New England Association accreditation teams. She was named the 2005 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) ‘Pillar of the Profession.’  She is a sought after consultant to work with colleges and universities nationally in situations such as campus change and strategic planning.  She also focuses on enhancing the relationship between academic affairs and student life to ensure student success.

Carrie Arnold, PhD., CEO & Founder, EQsential, LLC

Specialties: Emotional Intelligence Assessment and Coaching; Peer Mentoring; Leadership Programs

Carrie Arnold is the CEO and Founder of EQsential, LLC. She earned her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, Research, and Policy from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a concentration in higher education policy. Her research is in Emotional Intelligence and the impact it has on personal and professional success. Carrie earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and the German Language from The University of Maryland at College Park and her Master’s Degree from The College of Notre Dame of Maryland in Nonprofit Management.

Prior to working for EQsential full time, Carrie was the Interim Director of the Gateway Program Seminar at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She also maintained the premier campus Peer Leader Program and developed curriculum for the university’s Academic Engagement courses. She was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and taught various leadership courses. She is a certified training partner of Multi-Health Systems, Inc. and has completed over 1,000 coaching debriefs with students, educators, and organizational leaders.

 

Lisa Wexler, CEO & Director, Eduology Ltd.

Specialties: Emotional Intelligence Assessment and Coaching; Best Practices in Training and Instruction

Lisa develops and oversees training webinars, conferences and courses for Eduology and the Peer Leader Center. She began Eduology in 2013 to provide peer mentors and higher education professionals with high quality training opportunities, utilizing best practices in training and education to make events both informative and engaging. She also has partnered with the University of Colorado Denver, University of California San Diego and Baylor University to create national conferences for college peer mentors, produced training videos for peer mentors and, with national experts, created an online course for peer mentors. Previously, she worked as a Training Director for Academic Impressions, developing training webinars and conferences for student affairs professionals. In her training director positions, she has overseen the production of nearly 75 webinars and 20 conferences.

Prior to training, she served as a Faculty Instructor at the University of Denver, where, in addition to teaching English language courses to international students, she oversaw and redesigned international student orientations for the English Language Center and Daniel’s School of Business, ran a cultural/conversational mentor program, served as ELC Chair of the Curriculum Committee and Co-Chair of the Activities Committee, and created cross-campus partnerships to benefit students. She has also taught courses and tutored at the Community College of Aurora and was a member of her department’s Assessment Committee. She earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado-Boulder, where she studied English and Education and completed a graduate certificate program in education at the University of Northern Colorado. Lisa has over 20 years of experience in the fields of education and training and has presented at state and national conferences, including CoTESOL, TESOL and ACPA. She is also certified in the EQ-i 2.0 assessment and emotional intelligence coaching.
