Overview
Many academic advisors are tasked with developing new ways to better connect and engage with students. With the majority of college students owning a smartphone and laptop, the intentional use of technology in advising has become a high priority for many. However, it’s difficult to know where to begin:
What type of technology should you use and how should it be implemented?
Can the type of video content created lead to interactive learning?
Can digital technology benefit both students and advisors in terms of cost and time?
Can advisors use technology to encourage students’ self-reflection and self-understanding through a flipped advising approach?
This webinar will explore these questions and more, as the presenters help advisors—even the less tech-savvy—utilize digital learning technology to enhance the advising experience. Learn from advisors self-taught in educational technology who will share their experiences, examples, and demonstrate the tips and tricks to create meaningful content without any formal training in technology. This interactive event will help you:
Determine the benefits of digital technology to both students and advisors
Consider digital learning technology options to improve advising
Determine how to implement new technology
Reflect on types of video content and how they can lead to interactive learning
Utilize technology to increase advising access and/or implement a flipped advising approach
Apply technology to encourage greater student self-reflection re: major choice and academic goals
Discuss institutional examples of digital learning in advising
